While Microsoft Windows® rules the world of desktop computing, there are alternatives. Forty million people worldwide--and growing--rely on the Apple Macintosh Operating System (aka Mac OS X) to run their businesses and other computing, internet and media management needs.
With almost no true viruses or spyware known to date and a robust, Unix-based core, the Mac OS X platform is becoming a popular choice for small businesses who don't want to deal with the trouble or expense of a full-time in-house IT department.
If you're a Mac-based business in the Metro Detroit area, or are considering switching to or adding Mac systems to your existing network, Brainwrap now offers Mac OS X-specific tutoring, consulting and general support.
From tutoring in the differences between basic Windows and Mac use to hardware & software recommendations for specific needs, we can find the right Mac-based solution for you!

If so, you're not alone! Over the past few years, many people have decided to either "make the switch" from a Microsoft Windows computer to an Apple Mac OS X system, or to at least to add a Mac to their existing Windows network. Reasons for the move vary, from security and stability concerns to hardware design preferences, but whatever the reasons, a growing movement has started to build.
While Mac OS X is extremely powerful, secure and easy to use, it does require some amount of training before most people are comfortable using it on a daily basis. People who are brand new to using a personal computer need to learn the basics, and those who are used to using Windows-based systems will have to learn some of the differences in how files are arranged, how applications are opened and used, and the general ins & outs of the operating system.
Many tasks are very similar to what Windows-users are used to, but some are very different. If you're in the Metro Detroit area, I can sit down with you and offer hands-on, one-to-one tutoring on how to do everything from changing your screensaver to setting up your network preferences to storing and accessing files, and much more.
In addition, if you're planning on making the move from a Windows machine to a Mac, you'll probably want to move your email; photos, music and movies; Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents; and other data over. There are several ways of doing this; I can help get all of your "old stuff" moved over to your new Mac without losing your precious data!

You're not alone here either! Most of the 40 million Mac users worldwide have already made the move to OS X, the powerful, Unix-based operating system from Apple. However, there are "Classic" Macintosh users who have held off on upgrading to OS X up until now. In some ways, moving from OS 8 or 9 up to OS X can be as (seemingly) intimidating as moving from Windows to Mac, but it doesn't have to be!
I can analyze your current Mac hardware to determine whether it can handle the more-robust needs of OS X; if so, I'll help you upgrade the software; if not, I can make a recommendation as to which new Mac system you should consider replacing your current one with. Either way, once you're upgraded, I can show you the task equivalents and help you move your files over, just like with a switch from Windows.
